E3 Cancels In-Person Event for 2022

E3 2022

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, another major event for the year has made the decision to forego in-person plans. The Entertainment Software Association announced plans to cancel the in-person version of E3 2022, citing the pandemic and the continued strain being placed on the industry as the chief reasons behind the changes for the long-running video game industry trade show.

Last year’s E3 was a virtual event, but plans for this year remain uncertain. With so many major companies moving to virtual events of their own, including the likes of Sony and Nintendo, E3 continues to face the issue of relevance along with these global logistical roadblocks.

Here’s what the ESA said in a brief statement:

“Due to the ongoing health risks surrounding COVID-19 and its potential impact on the safety of exhibitors and attendees, E3 will not be held in person in 2022. We remain incredibly excited about the future of E3 and look forward to announcing more details soon.”
